What we do

Single Implant

A single implant replaces the root of one missing tooth with a titanium post. An abutment connects it to a crown on top. The teeth either side are left completely untouched — which is the main reason to choose this over a bridge.

Who it suits

  • One missing tooth, or one tooth that has to come out
  • Healthy teeth either side that you do not want cut down to carry a bridge
  • Enough bone at the site, or a small graft to build it back
  • Healthy gums, or gum treatment completed first

What you should know first

  • If the gap has been open for years, the bone underneath narrows. That is checked on the X-ray before anything is promised — sometimes a graft comes first.
  • Active gum disease is treated before an implant goes in, not after. Placing an implant into infected gum is how implants fail.

How the treatment runs

  1. 01

    X-ray review

Dr. Hatice checks bone height and width at the site, and the health of the neighbouring teeth.

  2. 02

    Extraction, if needed

If the tooth is still in place and cannot be saved, it comes out first.

  3. 03

    Implant placement

The titanium post is placed into the bone.

  4. 04

    Integration

The bone grows onto the implant over the following months.

  5. 05

    Abutment and crown

The abutment is fitted and the ceramic crown is made to match your own teeth.

Time in Istanbul

Single implants are usually two visits — placement, then the crown after integration. Some cases allow both stages to be shortened; whether yours does is answered from your X-ray, not from a price list.

Questions

Single implants: common questions

Ask Dr. Hatice
Should I have an implant or a bridge?

A conventional bridge is carried by the teeth either side, which means filing down two healthy teeth to hold it. An implant leaves them untouched. A bridge can still be the right answer in some mouths, and Dr. Hatice will say when it is.

How long does the whole treatment take?

Placing the implant is a short appointment. Integration with the bone takes months, and the crown goes on afterwards — usually on a second visit. An immediate crown is only possible in selected cases and is never assumed in advance.

Does it hurt?

It is done under local anaesthetic and most patients describe it as easier than the extraction that preceded it. Soreness for a few days afterwards is normal.

Will the crown match my other teeth?

Shade is matched to the teeth either side in the laboratory. A single crown is the hardest case to get right precisely because it sits next to natural teeth, so the shade is checked with you rather than picked from a chart.

How is the price decided?

Per implant and per crown, plus anything the site needs first — an extraction, or grafting where the bone has receded. Itemised in writing after the X-ray is read.

What if the implant does not integrate?

It happens in a small minority of cases, and it is not hidden from you. What we do in that situation is written into your plan before you travel, so you are not negotiating it after the fact.
